Thank you cookies

Recently, I planned a donor/volunteer appreciation event for work. It was hosted by a board member in his home, and featured catered hors d'ouervres and bar service. The evening was lovely.

In order to add my own touch and show the host how much I appreciated his support, I made Thank You cookies for all the guests.

I used a simple sugar cookie recipe, but substituted lemon extract for the usual vanilla extract. Yum!

The cookies were packed in cellophane wrappers and taken to the event in a basket. Here, the basket is simply for transportation purposes--it was the perfect size to hold all the cookies upright and snug, but not smashed, for the trip.

The cookies were displayed on a nice silver tray at the site, and guests grabbed one as they headed out the door for home. I know I've said it before, but cookies make such great favors. They can be made to fit any occasion and theme, people enjoy taking them, and they are so tasty. Yum!
