Martha is a normal person

Martha Stewart is perfection embodied. But every once in a while, Martha says or does something that lets me know underneath all that perfection, past the staff that does all the work and beyond the careful planning, Martha really is a normal person.
Case in point: Martha's most recent dinner party. She wrote about it on her blog and included several pictures. Take a look at this one:

Look at the back row of chairs, third from the left...see it? The black wooden chair with the spindle back that doesn't match any other chair from the table? Yep, that's right: sometimes Martha throws a dinner party, and doesn't have enough seats at the table to accomodate the guests. So she runs into the next room, grabs a chair, pulls it up to the table, and keeps on going with her bad self.

So when you're preparing for your big Easter fete this weekend and don't have enough seats for all the guests you're expecting, go ahead and run to the garage for that metal folding chair. Nestle it in among the fancy, formal chairs around the dinner table. It's what Martha would do!

Niiiice. I have to admit it is hard to see her as a real person... very humanizing touch. :P

It's a relief knowing even Martha has to make-do once in a while. Though the small imperfection makes the scene look better, don't you think?
