Easter decoration in the dining room

At least 90% of my Easter decorations come from my mother's friend Diana. Diana is no longer with us, but I am the proud caretaker of many of her holiday decorations. The majority of the Easter decorations are going in my dining room.

This table runner looks homemade. Diana or her mother could have easily made this--they were mega-talented like that.

Take a look at the Easter-themed coffee/tea set, complete with the pot, sugar bowl and creamer.

This little bunny wagon is holding a set of bunny salt- and pepper-shakers.

There are approximately 50 Easter eggs of all shapes and sizes, including glass, porcelin, wood and actual eggs, in with Diana's Easter decorations. Diana was not kidding around with the eggs. I put many of them, including two lambs, into the centerpiece bowl.

My Waterford bowl is filled with most of the glass eggs.

Two large bunnies sit on the buffet.

They're looking at this basket. Which is filled with beautifully-decorated wooden eggs and carrot ornaments. I really need to consider an Easter tree!

Or, they could just be appalled at the layer of dust on the buffet.
I prefer to think they're looking at the basket.

Easter Decorations

Easter is just a few weeks away, so the decorations are coming out. For nearly every season/holiday, I have something on the front door.

It says Welcome. I need to put a note underneath that says "Unless you are selling something." Those kids with the overpriced candy really need to stop ringing my doorbell.

Gracing the entryway are the Easter egg lights. Little Guy is fascinated with these. Truth be told, so am I. Hello! They're eggs...that LIGHT UP! Awesome!

Little guy will only be 17 months old for Easter, but I'm hoping he'll get into the egg hunt. These are the practice plastic eggs. So far, he's mastered throwing them on the ground.

While unpacking the Easter decorations, I found a bunch of candles I bought ages ago. Nine years later, I still haven't burned them. Why not? you ask. I ask you, Could you burn this?

Just look at this cute bunny. How can I light him on fire?

And this duck. He's practically begging for his life. Just look at that pleading expression!

And the bluebird of happiness? That's just not something you want to set on fire. It could lead to severe unhappiness, for you and the bird. So unless you gave up happiness for Lent, I wouldn't recommend burning the bluebird candle.

These egg-shaped candles are the only ones I am okay with burning. Well, mostly okay. Maybe I'll wait until next year to burn these. Just in case.

Martha Monday!

Martha Stewart is on Twitter. You can check out her tweets and sign up to follow her here. She has 72,768 followers. Amazing. Martha started tweeting on February 21, and averages 3 tweets a day. Three tweets a day! I don't even have time to brush my teeth three times a day, let alone update the world on my goings-on. How does she do it?

And before anyone suggests that she has a member of her staff tweet for her, let me tell you that she does all of her tweets herself. She tweeted to her followers that she was thinking of relaying her tweets to a staff member to tweet for her, but that was met with resounding disapproval from all 30,000+ followers (yes, her following doubled in five days time), so Martha is tweeting for herself.

I started tweeting on March 3 and have 11 updates so far. Three followers, one of which is a company that picked up on the word "cleaning" in one of my tweets. You can read my tweets and sign up to follow me here.
I'm managing to do two Tweets each day. So far, nearly all of them comment on my lack of sleep, lack of housecleaning, plans to get more sleep, and plans to clean the house. And I can assure you that I do all of my tweets myself. Happy Monday!

Wags and CVS

I made my weekly pilgrimage to Walgreens and CVS this week.

Walgreens: 1 Garnier Fructis shampoo, 1 GF conditioner, 1 GF 2-in-1, 3 GF styling products, Colgate toothpaste and Right Guard deoderant. The Garnier products (all 6 of them) and the toothpaste were free after coupons. I paid $2.45 for the deoderant, paid $4.16 total including tax, and got $2 in Register Rewards for my next trip.

CVS: 1 Palmolive dish soap, 1 Crest Pro-Health rinse, and 2 Zone Perfect bars. The bars were free after coupons, and I simply rolled Extra Bucks on the dish soap and rinse. The $0.39 tax was put on my CVS gift card.

Overall, I think I did okay. I'm not convinced I should have bought the deoderant (watch it go on sale in a few months!) but it was delightful to go to Wags and (especially) CVS and have everything I wanted in stock. Good times!

Exercise Update

In my workout journey to be more physically fit like Martha, I started doing an exercise video and taking measurements and weighing in at the 15-, 30-, 45- and 60-day mark. For those of you keeping track, Monday, March 2 was my 30-day check-in. I did it, I just didn't post about it. Isn't Martha Monday so much better than hearing about my workout progress (or lack thereof)?

I've decreased my arms, bust, hips and thigh by a 1/2 inch since the 15-day mark. The scale has only gone down a 1.5 pounds since starting, which, if you go by only the numbers on the scale, is disappointing. However, my one big Hooray For Me moment is that I have a pair of pre-pregnancy pants that I can wear quite comfortably. And I'm thisclose to wearing my favorite pre-pregnancy jeans out in public. Thisclose is definitely a good thing.
