Now, down to business:
This week is double coupons (up to $2) at all northern Illinois Kmart stores. To find out if your store participates in this, check the front page of today's flyer, or find your flyer on the Kmart website.
I got all this for only $12.72. I saved 80% and I got a catalina for $3.00 off my next trip and I'll submit the Pert Plus for Men for the "Try Me Free" rebate. Not bad! Obviously, I'll be going to Kmart again in the very near future.
Finally, remember my awesome event at the InterContinental Hotel Chicago back in March? Leonardo, the wonderful catering sales manager, passed along the following deal:
The InterContinental Hotel Group--hotels include InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites--is offering a discount for friends and family. I don't know how steep the discount is (since I haven't used it and have no travel plans for the foreseeable future even though I desperately need a vacation that includes a beach, a hammock and fruity drinks with umbrellas, but I digress) but it might be useful for those of you with somewhere to go.
The program runs now through the end of September, and you can book your stay up to 50 weeks in advance. Click here to receive Leonardo's Friends and Family discount.
If you use the discount, please check in with TMI and let me know how great a discount you received. Also, if you have vacation plans, or travel plans, or any plans to stay at a place where someone cleans your room and makes your bed for you, please let me know, in detail, how that went.
I'll live vicariously through you.

I love reading this stuff! Do you mind sharing your individual deals (like how much were the Cheerio's) so I can see if it's worth another trip back to Kmart? ;-)
I noticed yesterday that Kmart only doubles the coupon up to the amount that you pay for the item, so you can only get something for free (not more than the item is priced). I had a $2.00 off coupon for A-1 Steaksauce and it was priced $2.99 - they took off the $2.00 and then another .99 instead of deducting $4.00 from the total. That is ok, though! I am just happy that Kmart does the double coupons! It's the only store around here that does that even periodically.
Keep posting - love your blog!
Hi, Allison!
No overage at Kmart, although you should get overage at other stores like Walgreens, CVS, Jewel, etc.
The Cheerios were 4/$6 (must buy 4) and some Betty Crocker fruit snacks were included in that. I had 2 $1/2 coupons, so it came out to $2 for all 4 boxes of Cheerios. If you can buy a group of 4, that deal is totally worth it.
The deoderants were all free:
Dove deoderant $3.99 each, $2/1 coupon
Sure deoderant $2.49 each, $1.25/1 coupon
Degree deoderant $2.99 each, $1.50/1 coupon (not 100% sure on this, though)
The Pert Plus for Men were $3.69 each, I used 2 $1.50/1 coupons.
I think the dog treats were the only thing I spent money on. Each were $4+, and I only had $1/1 and $1.50/1 coupons, so I did spend $1.50 or so for each bag of treats.
Not sure what triggered the $3 catalina, it didn't say on there.
I am so jealous of all the groceries you are getting for free! I only have a regular Kmart by me, no Super Kmarts unless I want to drive. Also, the Kroger by you should be doubling coupons up to 0.50. And those can be combined with Shortcuts and Cell Fire coupons. Check it out!
Thanks for the details! Here is what I got on my second (and third) trips:
Free - 2 bags of Grande Tortilla chips, 2 Weber marinade packets, Kraft BBQ sauce, Dove deoderant, 2 bottles of French's brown mustard
79 cents or less - Axe body wash for men, Miracle Whip (50 cents), Kraft rasberry ving. dressing (50 cents), Eskimo ice cream bars (50 cents), 2 cans of pringles (50 cents ea), Betty Crocker frosting (50 cents), Eggo muffin tops (79 cents)
I got 23 items for about $20, but that did require 2 visits (one right after another) ;-)
Have I mentioned I love when Kmart does the double coupons? :D
That's awesome! I wish my Kmart carried more food so I could get in on that action.
If you have the P&G insert from Sunday, you can use the $2/1 coupon for free Pantene, then use the Free Pantene styler coupon. The $2/1 coupon says it has to be the Thick & Full shampoo/conditioner, but it will work for any type.
Are you going to go again before the end of the week?
